Am I in peri-menopause?

Today I turn 45

I’m actually really excited about turning 45.

Whilst I loved my 30s, my 40s have definitely been harder.

Whilst aging doesn’t bother me in itself – I’m determined to grow
old disgracefully! – turning 40 was a real landmark, especially
leaving behind a decade of finally feeling like I’d grown into my
own skin.

Now I’m in perimenopause – that transitional phase in a woman’s
life that guides her body towards menopause.

Like puberty (but in reverse), it doesn’t happen overnight – but
takes place steadily over a period of years

^^^ hahaha I said period, which is quite ironic, given the
subject.

So far perimenopause has brought me: – anxiety – palpitations –
erratic and heavier(!) periods – insomnia – fatigue – and the
return of self-consciousness

but do you know what – it’s fine.

Rather than dread, I honestly see these changes as an
opportunity.

An opportunity: – to get to know an emerging new me better – to
focus on supporting my body through this time of change*

AND

I feel confident about it because I’m using all the principles of
my own Chrysalis programme to support myself.

I designed the Chrysalis programme with this in mind.

I took my 3rd Age woman course with Burrell Education 3 years ago
to prepare myself and support other women going through the same.

Last year, I supported 15 women through my Chrysalis programme
and it was such a privilege to be part of their journeys of
self-discovery, realisation and change.

Why only 15????

I’m not comfortable working with big groups.

I can’t get to know individuals, monitor, support or feedback to
individuals when there are lots of people.

And whilst we follow a pre-programmed itinerary through
Chrysalis, I go out of my way to individualise the application of
the content for each woman.

A GENERALISED, COOKIE-CUTTER FORMULA THAT FORCES YOU IN A SET
PROGRAMME AND MOULD IS NOT WHAT WOMEN NEED AT THIS STAGE OF THEIR
LIVES!!!

menopauseBeing lost in a crowd of people, able to hide what they’re truly
struggling with in the noise of a large group is NOT what women need during this transition.

A supportive environment, that feels safe & secure to explore
their mindset, experiment with nutrition & experience different
types of movement offers something unique and needed for women at this stage of their lives.

^^^ That is the bones of Chrysalis.

For me, I’ve been through the medical channels to ensure the
“symptoms” I’m experiencing aren’t anything untoward. They’re
not.

The medical professionals I’ve worked with have been impressed at
my strategies for dealing with what my body is adjusting to right
now.

All I’ve used are the principles and strategies within my own
Chrysalis programme.

As a Mum of 2 very boisterous boys, owner of my own business and
a woman too (at times), I completely understand how easy it is to
put up with how you and your body is feeling. To say “I’ll look
after myself when…….”

To continue to feel run down, out of control and bewildered by
what you are feeling.

Support for this massively transitional phase in a woman’s life
is scant….ok, let’s be honest – it’s non-existent.

THE DOCTOR’S FIRST RESPONSE WHEN I FIRST PRESENTED MY SYMPTOMS WAS TO JUST OFFER ANTI-DEPRESSANTS

Thankfully, I was assured by my own knowledge and felt strongly
about how I wanted to manage myself to refuse those standard
issue pills and

– push for the tests I wanted

– ask for copies of the results

– to know who to ask for further information to support my
interpretation of the results

– have the structure to support myself HOLISTICALLY.

All support that is within the Chrysalis package.

* it’s not called “The Change” for nothing – ITS NOT JUST YOUR
BODY THAT IS CHANGING, BUT YOUR THINKING, YOUR NEEDS AND DESIRES
ARE CHANGING TOO.

Women often change homes, careers, husbands(!) and more in this
period of their lives as they seek to make sense of the
tumultuous changes that are taking place within them.

Having a framework to make sense of those thoughts, to harness
their power and give a structure to use them constructively is
all part of the mindset work we focus on EXCLUSIVELY in the first
2 weeks of the programme and features over the following 10 weeks
too.

Today I’m 45 and I’m excited about the changes to come.

I’m also excited to be running the next Chrysalis course  and look forward to sharing the journeys of more amazing women who are ready to experience change in a really positive way.
